Over the past weekend, the Brussels-West police zone seized over a kilogram of cocaine and a kilogram of cannabis in interventions in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek and Sint-Agatha-Berchem, leading to the arrest of two suspects, the Brussels police reported on Thursday.
On Friday evening, at approximately 23:40, a patrol stopped a vehicle for a serious traffic violation on the Steenweg op Ninove in Molenbeek. The driver, previously known for drug-related offences, was searched. Under the seat, officers found a block of cocaine weighing 1.22 kilograms and an envelope containing €980 behind the passenger seat. A subsequent house search yielded no further results. The man was arrested and placed under an arrest warrant on 26 July.
On Saturday evening, at around 23:10, another patrol noticed a vehicle near the Hunderenveld football field in Sint-Agatha-Berchem, a known drug hotspot. The driver attempted to flee with the lights off, discarding a bag containing 10.61 grams of marijuana out of the window. He was intercepted, tested positive for drug use, and arrested. A house search revealed 1.02 kilograms of cannabis and a precision scale. This suspect was also detained, on 27 July.
These operations are part of the Brussels-West police zone’s drug action plan, as they continue their vigilant fight against drug crime and the associated public nuisance.
