Serious disruptions and cancellations are expected on the high-speed line to and from Paris on Monday, warned French railway company SNCF and Eurostar.
Part of the French railway network has been closed due to a power cut about 50 kilometres north of the French capital. This has affected TGV Inoui, Ouigo, and Eurostar services. The SNCF advises passengers to postpone all train journeys.
"Passengers can exchange their tickets free of charge or request a full refund," said a Eurostar spokesperson.
The spokesperson also said that passengers are advised to postpone their journey. Trains are still running to and from Paris, but via a detour, not via the high-speed line. This is causing delays on the route.
At least 16 Eurostar trains have been cancelled, the company reported. Other trains have experienced delays of up to 1 hour and 50 minutes. Two trains, one between Paris and Brussels and one between Brussels and Paris, had to drive back, Eurostar added.
Up to 22 Eurostar trains run daily from Brussels-South to Paris, and Ouigo offers three connections every day.
According to Eurostar, the routes between London and Amsterdam, London and Brussels, and Brussels and Amsterdam are not affected by the disruptions.
The French railway company SNCF reported that the power cut began around 08:30 near Moussy. Work is expected to continue late into the evening to resolve the problems, as "major repairs" are necessary.
