British far-right political activist Tommy Robinson was arrested on Monday at Luton Airport, north of London, the police have announced.
Robinson was sought in connection with an incident on the London Underground and is suspected of assault.
The British Transport Police stated in a press release that a “42-year-old man from Bedfordshire” was apprehended on Monday “in relation to aggression at St Pancras station on 28 July.”
The arrest occurred shortly after 6:30 pm, with authorities being alerted that he was “aboard a flight from Faro,” Portugal.
He was taken into custody under suspicion of assault, following an alleged incident after he departed for Tenerife on the morning of 29 July. Video footage on the platform X showed a man lying on the ground in a metro tunnel, with a visibly agitated Robinson nearby, claiming to a passerby: “He challenged me.”
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is a prominent far-right figure in the United Kingdom. He has multiple convictions and has previously served time in prison.
