The organisation of the Lokerse Feesten stated on Wednesday that the unsettled weather during the first half of the festival did not dampen the atmosphere.
Already, 20,000 people have watched the livestream, a new feature for this anniversary edition. An impressive 360-degree LED wall has delighted both the audience and performers, who sometimes adjust their shows last minute to incorporate the technology.
Spokesperson Steven Latré believes this year’s Lokerse Feesten has been a strong edition so far. “We’ve had near full houses on many days. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were nearly sold out. From Thursday, I expect fully packed venues again, with Saturday already sold out.”
Despite the rain showers, Latré noted several high points. “We’ve witnessed fantastic shows. Artists have been using the large screen behind the stage creatively and extensively, resulting in a truly intimate experience.” The livestream, used on a larger scale for the first time, has already reached over 20,000 viewers. “This also attracts an international audience. Artists are enthusiastic about the quality and use it eagerly for extra promotion.”
Latre has chosen not to disclose exact attendance figures yet, but he speculates that “the record might be broken again.” Last year, the Lokerse Feesten attracted 132,000 visitors. “The main highlight of the programme lies in the second half. The absolute peak days are yet to come.”
