Another shooting took place in the Brussels municipality of Schaerbeek on Thursday morning, around 7:00.
The incident occurred after two individuals reportedly got into a heated argument, which spiralled out of control, resulting in a gunshot, as confirmed by the Brussels North police zone. The fight took place on the intersection of Rue Auguste Lambiotte and Avenue Chazal, near Josaphat Park.
It was initially reported that the victim was shot in the head, and was in life-threatening condition. Upon medical examinations, however, this has been confirmed to be false. The victim has been taken to hospital.
The perpetrator was able to flee the scene before the police arrived. Investigations are ongoing to reveal the precise circumstances of the attack, and the identity of the shooter.
This marked the fourth shooting over the past seven days in the Brussels-Capital Region, though it is likely to be unrelated to previous occurrences in Saint-Jean-Molenbeek and Anderlecht. Further details are unknown at this stage.
