In a collision between two vans in Ostend on Thursday morning, both drivers sustained serious injuries, but they are not in a life-threatening condition, confirmed the local police.
The accident occurred around 9:30 on Elisabethlaan. A black van was attempting to turn onto Seringenstraat when it was struck on the side by a white van travelling towards the Kennedy roundabout. Despite their severe injuries, the drivers were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.
The impact flipped the black van onto its roof, and both vehicles required towing from the scene. Firefighters attended to clean up paint spilled from one of the vans. Meanwhile, local police managed traffic on Elisabethlaan.
The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, but neither driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
