A woman holding her baby jumped off the Remouchamps Viaduct, part of the E25 in Aywaille, on Thursday afternoon, authorities from the Liège Office of the Public Prosecutor have confirmed.
The 33-year-old woman was from Luxembourg. Her infant was less than a year old.
The reasons behind her actions remained unclear.
The Office of the Public Prosecutor is treating the case as murder followed by suicide. While prosecution will not proceed, further investigation is aimed at shedding light on the incident.
