Train traffic on the high-speed line between Antwerp and the Dutch border was temporarily suspended on Monday morning due to a signal failure, according to railway network operator Infrabel. Traffic resumed at 9:45.
According to Infrabel, the disruption involved a major power cable used to operate the signals and points. Train traffic was diverted as far as possible via the conventional passenger line (L12). Trains are now able to run on the high-speed line in both directions, but there may still be some delays.
Two trains were stopped due to the malfunction, but they were able to resume their journeys. A train between Antwerp-Luchtbal and Noorderkempen returned to Antwerp Central, and a train that was stopped at Noorderkempen station returned via the classic passenger line.
Update: This article was updated after train traffic resumed.
