Temperatures in Brussels will rise to around 30°C on Monday, as summery weather has returned to Belgium. The rest of the week will remain warm, according to the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI).
On Monday, it will be warmer with maximum temperatures of 25-26°C near the sea and in the Ardennes, and up to 29-30°C in the centre of the country. There will be a predominantly light easterly wind. In the afternoon, a moderate sea breeze will pick up from the north-northeast on the coast.
Monday evening and Monday night will remain calm, mild and clear: minimum temperatures will range from 13°C in the Ardennes to 18°C in the major cities, with a predominantly light easterly wind.
Tuesday will also be very warm with plenty of sunshine, as maximum temperatures will range from 28°C at the coast and in the High Fens to 33-34°C in and around Brussels, and the south of Belgium.
Wednesday, too, is expected to be sunny and tropical, with maximum temperatures of 27°C to 33°C. Towards the evening or during the night, a few thunderstorms may move in from France.
The RMI declares a national heatwave when the maximum temperatures in the official measuring station in Uccle reach 25°C (or more) for at least five days in a row, of which at least three days of 30°C (or more).
