Belgians who wish to travel to Vietnam for a period of up to 45 days no longer need to apply for a visa, announced Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot (Les Engagés) on Monday.
The scheme will come into effect on 15 August 2025 as part of the Vietnamese programme for tourism promotion and development.
"This was one of the most important requests that the King and I made during the state visit to Vietnam in April," Prévot wrote on social media. "The Vietnamese Prime Minister had committed to this during our meeting. Now it has been realised, thanks in part to the follow-up by our embassy!"
The rules apply to 11 European countries. In addition to Belgium, residents of Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland and Czechia will also benefit from the relaxation.
