Elon Musk has accused Apple of favouring OpenAI’s ChatGPT app in the App Store rankings to the detriment of his own artificial intelligence (AI) app, Grok, and is now taking legal action.
Musk claims that Apple makes it impossible for AI companies other than OpenAI to achieve the top App Store position, calling it a "unequivocal antitrust violation".
He wrote on his platform, X: "Hey Apple App Store, why do you refuse to put either X or Grok in your 'Must Have' section when X is the #1 news app in the world and Grok is #5 among all apps? Are you playing politics? What gives? Inquiring minds want to know."
He stated that his AI company, xAI, is taking "immediate legal steps". However, Musk has not provided evidence to support his accusations against Apple.
Meanwhile, Apple and OpenAI have begun a collaboration to integrate ChatGPT with iPhones, Macs, and iPads.
