Supermarket chain Carrefour is recalling several seafood products that may contain the Listeria bacteria. The company announced the product recall on Tuesday, following consultations with the Food Safety Authority (FASFC).
The products concerned are:
- "Fish & Chips - Cod Fillets" bearing the batch number 5209533 and a best before date (BBD) of 08/14/2025
- "Breaded Cod Fillets" bearing the batch number 5209588 and a BBD of 08/14/2025
- "Northern Flounder Fillets Meunière" bearing the batch number 5211536 and a BBD of 08/18/2025
All the products affected by the recall were sold between 29 July and 11 August 2025.
Consumers who have bought one of these products are urged not to consume it, and to destroy it or return it to their point of sale where they will be reimbursed.
Anyone who has consumed any of these products and experiences a fever, whether isolated or accompanied by headaches, is encouraged to consult their doctor and report the consumption.
These symptoms may indicate listeriosis, a disease with an incubation period of up to eight weeks. The symptoms may be particularly severe in young children, immunocompromised individuals, and the elderly.
