Nearly 237,000 companies have missed the deadline to file their 2024 annual accounts with the National Bank of Belgium, BNB, L’Echo daily reported on Tuesday.
The legal deadline for filing annual accounts with the BNB’s Central Balance Sheet Office is 30 days following the general meeting. This meeting must occur within six months after the end of the financial year.
Companies aligning their financial year with the calendar year, which represent about 80% of all businesses, are required to submit their accounts by the end of July.
According to L’Echo’s estimates, based on data provided by the BNB, about one in four companies have yet to file their accounts.
“Considering past patterns and submissions thus far, we can reasonably assume that, once again this year, over 200,000 accounts will be filed late,” the BNB stated.
