After reaching a record high of 4,805.78 points at the start of trading on Friday, the BEL 20 index slowed down and ended up closing 0.10% down at 4,774.31 points.

The Brussels index was mixed, like its European neighbours, with Solvay (28.62) and Syensqo (77.76) remaining in the lead with gains of 1.20% and 1.33%, while arGEN-X (553.80) and UCB (192.50) fell by 0.50% and 0.93% respectively.

KBC (103.30) and Lotus Bakeries (8,160) lost 0.15% and 2.04%, while Ageas (62.40) and AB InBev (52.52) gained 0.40% and 0.81%.

Real estate stocks were mixed, with Montea (67.80) up 1.04% and Cofinimmo (75.85) down 1.37%. D'Ieteren (187.40) was up 0.92% on the previous day, while Umicore (13.81) and Elia (96.55) fell by 1.36% and 0.46% respectively, and Sofina (279.20) by 0.71%.

Econocom (1.836) and Ontex (6.38) rose by 1.8% and 1.4%. Banqup (3.81) and CFE (9.24) fell by 2.3% and 1.7%. Biotalys (4.89) was finally up 1.9%, while Galapagos (27.58) lost 0.6%.

At around 4.30 p.m., the euro was trading at US$1.1710 , compared with $1.1665 the previous day. Gold was trading at around €91,745, down €475.
