An individual attacked several people on Friday near a bed and breakfast in Beveren-Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht, the East Flanders public prosecutor's office said on Saturday. The 32-year-old man, who lives in the area, will appear before an investigating judge on Sunday.
At around 17:00, a woman who had come to check into a bed and breakfast was attacked by a man.
The two owners of the establishment intervened, but they too were attacked and slightly injured. The police were able to arrest the suspect, but the man remained aggressive.
‘According to initial findings, the suspect struck and spat at the officers who intervened,’ the public prosecutor's office said. The individual was taken to the police station, where he continued to be uncooperative. Two police officers were slightly injured. One of them is unable to work for five days.
The man has since been questioned. He will appear before the investigating judge in Dendermonde on Sunday morning.
