A broad coalition of associations, unions and NGOs is organising a "red card" protest against Israel and its enablers in Brussels on Sunday, 7 September.
Organisers are calling on people to mobilise in condemnation of Israel’s continued settlement expansion in Palestinian territories and what they see as international inaction.
The protest is set to begin at 14:00 at Gare du Nord and follows a major demonstration held on 15 June, which gathered 75,000 to 110,000 participants, according to police and organisers, respectively.
"This is no longer just about demands—it’s time to act," the coalition declared in a statement.
The mobilisation comes as a critical deadline approaches for Israel.
On 20 September 2024, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that gave Israel one year to withdraw from its settlements in Palestinian territories.
However, protest organisers claim that, a year later, "not only has Israel failed to pull back, but settlement expansion is accelerating."
The coalition is urging participants to issue a "red card" not only to Israel but also to Belgium, the European Union, and businesses they accuse of complicity.
Additionally, they are demanding accountability for military, economic, and diplomatic support that they claim enables what they describe as a "genocide."
