A small explosion was reported on Friday morning at the Louise Gallery in Brussels, the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles Police Zone has confirmed.
Preliminary findings suggest that firecrackers were detonated in the shopping gallery shortly before the shops were due to open. No one was injured in the incident.
As a precaution, the gallery was evacuated. It it located in the central shopping district around Avenue Louise and Toison d'Or.
The army’s bomb disposal unit (Sedee) was deployed to examine the remains of the pyrotechnic devices and determine their exact nature.
A police investigation has been launched to clarify the circumstances surrounding the event.
