The lifeless body of a man was discovered in a building on Rue de Laeken, in the centre of Brussels, on Wednesday afternoon. The police quickly arrested a suspect, according to the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.
According to initial reports, a witness entered an office building on the street and asked to call the emergency services, claiming that a man was lying in a pool of blood in a building opposite.
The police and emergency services responded and found a man dead on the second floor of the building. "The police were called on Wednesday afternoon and found a man dead at the scene," said Laura Demullier, spokesperson for the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.
"There appears to have been third-party involvement. A suspect has been arrested, a man born in 1961." The public prosecutor's office was immediately informed and has opened an investigation.

The federal judicial police laboratory and a forensic scientist went to the scene to make initial observations. The Public Prosecutor's Office and the investigating judge are also due to visit the scene.
"The victim has not yet been identified," the spokesperson added. "In the interests of the investigation, the prosecutor's office will not make any further comments."
