Zlatan Ibrahimović (43) was celebrated on Thursday evening in Monaco during the Champions League group stage draw as he received the UEFA President’s Award for his illustrious career and significant contributions to football.
The UEFA President’s Award, introduced in 1998, is given annually to an individual in football who has helped advance and redefine the sport. Ibrahimović achieved extraordinary success throughout his career, playing for top clubs such as AC Milan, Inter, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain. He scored an incredible 496 goals in his career, including 62 for the Swedish national team.
The Swedish icon retired from professional football in the summer of 2023 after his final stint with AC Milan, where he now serves as an advisor.
Last year, the award was presented to former Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Other notable recipients include legends such as Johan Cruyff, Francesco Totti, and Didier Drogba.
