Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with several European leaders in Paris on Thursday.
On the agenda, will be a discussion on security guarantees for Ukraine and advance diplomatic efforts, according to a European political source.
The meeting comes as Washington's attempts to end Russia’s invasion of Ukraine appear stalled, raising concerns over prolonged hostilities.
The anonymous source told AFP that the discussions aim to counter delays allegedly caused by Russia and to push forward with negotiations.
Further details about the leaders attending and the agenda are yet to be confirmed.
EU peacekeeping
On Sunday, it was announced that the European Union is formulating detailed plans for a multinational troop presence in Ukraine as part of security guarantees following the conflict, according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Von der Leyen revealed that the initiative has garnered support from the United States. "President Trump assured us that there will be an American presence as part of the backstop," she said, adding that Washington's backing has been "very clear and repeatedly confirmed."
The proposed deployment is expected to involve tens of thousands of European-led troops, bolstered by American resources. This support would include command and control systems as well as intelligence and surveillance capabilities, Von der Leyen explained.
These agreements were reportedly reached during a meeting earlier this month in Washington between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and European leaders.
