Two suspects have been arrested over the fatal shooting in Anderlecht’s Parc de la Rosée on 7 August, with both now charged with murder, according to the Brussels Prosecutor’s Office.

The incident occurred at around 20:00 near Place Alphonse Lemmens, where a 17-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after being shot multiple times. He was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his wounds.

"The victim was approached by an individual who fired several shots," stated the prosecutor’s office.

"Investigations quickly revealed that the alleged gunman did not act alone and had an accomplice. Through extensive detective work, authorities were able to locate and arrest the two suspects during the night from Friday to Saturday."

The operation, led by the Federal Judicial Police’s Drugs Unit in Brussels, involved around 30 officers.

Five house searches were conducted, resulting in the seizure of multiple items now being analysed to clarify the roles and involvement of the suspects.

Both individuals have been officially charged with murder and are due to appear before the council chamber on Friday.

Initially, the victim could not be identified. However, ten days after the shooting, investigators managed to confirm his identity.

According to local news outlet Bruzz, the victim was an undocumented migrant living in Belgium – though the prosecutor’s office has declined to comment on this detail.
