Several people were stabbed on a train in the United Kingdom, leaving ten injured, including nine with life-threatening injuries.
The attack occurred on a train travelling from Doncaster to London King’s Cross after it departed Peterborough station in Cambridgeshire. The train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two suspects were arrested.
Cambridgeshire Police confirmed they received reports of the incident at 19:39 local time. The train was halted in Huntingdon, and police apprehended two men at the scene.
Witnesses described the events as “horrific” and “extremely violent.” A man armed with a large knife was reportedly seen, while passengers hid in train toilets, according to accounts published by The Times and The Sun.
London North Eastern Railway (LNER), which operates the route between London and Edinburgh, has urged passengers not to travel. National Rail stated that Huntingdon station is closed, and all rail lines in the area are blocked. Tickets purchased for the affected trains may be used on certain alternative routes.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his concern over the “disturbing” incident on social media platform X, sending thoughts to the victims and praising emergency services for their swift response. He urged people in the area to follow police advice.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood also shared her condolences on X, saying she was “deeply saddened,” while confirming that the two suspects had been detained.
