Access to the Liberation Tunnel in Antwerp has been completely closed, Federal Police said on Tuesday evening.
The left lane of the A12 motorway remains open to traffic heading towards Antwerp, the police added.
The closure was caused by an accident involving a lorry carrying a trailer filled with phosphoric acid.
Federal Police assured that no leaks were detected in the trailer.
The lorry was being removed as a precautionary measure, police added.
