Belgium is seeing a huge increase in adult baptism registrations.
This year, 689 adults in Belgium are candidates for baptism in the Catholic Church.
It marks a nearly 30% increase since 2025 and a tripling over the past decade.
The Belgian Bishops’ Conference revealed these figures on Wednesday, as Lent begins.
Most of the catechumens, set to be baptised on Easter night, 4 April, come from the dioceses of Mechelen-Brussels (248) and Tournai (177).
