Engie now supplies one million residential customers with 100% green and Belgian energy, the company announced in a statement on Friday.

The French utility company is now the country's leading green supplier, with Engie saying it now accounts for 40% of households supplied with green and Belgian energy, Belga News Agency reports.

"The transition to carbon neutrality is a challenge for all of us. For ENGIE as an electricity producer, but also as a supplier to our customers who are increasingly aware of the role they can play in this transition," explained Thierry Saegeman-CEO of ENGIE Benelux. "We are particularly proud to be the largest supplier of green energy in the country with 40% of households supplied with green and Belgian energy. We are continuing our efforts in this direction and want to be the preferred partner of our customers so that together we can succeed in the energy transition."
