Charming, graceful, sassy – for the fifth consecutive year, Chihuahuas are the most popular dog breed registered in Brussels.

The miniature dogs typically stand 12.5 – 20cm tall, weigh up to 2.7kg, and live for between 14 and 16 years, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). Compared to other breeds, Chihuahuas also don’t shed much hair and hardly drool.

Their size and calm behaviour make them well suited to cramped apartments occupied by singles or childless couples. However, Chihuahuas are not considered a great match for children, according to the AKC.
