EUSP announces the 50 most promising European startups of 2022

The European Startup Prize for Mobility (EUSP) have just announced its list of the 50 most promising European startups, not only in terms of their economic potential but also their contribution to the environment and a more inclusive society.

This is the 4th edition in which the EUSP invites startups to apply and then ranks its applicants and rewards the winners with an acceleration programme.

The top 50 were selected among 563 applications received this year from 38 European countries, according to a statement by EUSP. Eligible countries go beyond the EU Member States and include all countries that are part of the EU Horizon Europe research programme, therefore including countries like Israel, Switzerland, Norway, UK, Turkey and others.

Startup applications were assessed by 57 independent evaluators from across Europe who graded and ranked the startups according to a specific methodology developed by accelerator Via ID and Boston Consulting Group.

“The future of mobility must be clean for the planet and better serve people.” said Karima Delli, Chairwoman of the Transport Committee in the European Parliament and one of the co-founders of the Prize. “That is why I am so proud to see the significant turnout of startups from every corner of Europe; competitive by their business solutions but united by their ambition to provide us with more sustainable, inclusive, and smarter transport for the future."

“Over the years, the EUSP has become the biggest call for innovative solutions in clean mobility in Europe with close to 600 applications each year. We were positively amazed to discover realise how dynamic the European tech ecosystem is.” EUSP Managing Director Gregory Merly said. He furthermore highlighted the fact that almost a fourth of this year’s applicants were startups created in 2021. “This shows that the pandemic did not only hinder entrepreneurs from doing business but also created an opportunity for some of them to create new ones."

Over the next months, the EUSP will select the top 10 startups among these 50, and invite the winners to pitch their technological solutions in front of top EU decision makers, VIPs, investors, and Greentech enthusiasts. For the second year, The Brussels Times is the official media partner of the EUSP for its public event.
