A 26-year-old woman was killed instantly after a collision with a train on the Meulesteedsesteenweg in Ghent on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened at the train’s crossing with the road, Belga News Agency reports.
Witnesses stated that the woman was in a hurry and, without looking, had crawled under the lowered barriers.
“At that moment two trains had already passed at the crossing, but a third one was coming,” police said.
The public prosecutor did not appoint an expert, because all the witnesses gave a similar statement.
Train traffic was momentarily delayed between Wondelgem and Gent-Sint-Pieters.
