The Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI) has issued a Code Yellow alert for most of the country due to rain and a possibility of snow and ice.
“In the Ardennes, a few centimetres of snow may fall tonight above 500 metres,” the RMI reports.
“In addition to snow, local frost patches may also be observed tonight. Ice patches may also form in the southern half, especially in wind-sheltered areas.”

Friday will see a relative improvement in the weather, with clouds rolling in amidst the clearings, but on Thursday evening, an area of rain will fall on most of the regions.
It will feel more like winter in upper Belgium, and the alert includes warnings of slippery conditions over a large part of the country, including Brussels.
The yellow alert will continue until late Friday morning.
