Train services between Antwerp-South and Puurs will resume normally in both directions from Thursday morning, according railway network operator Infrabel.

Traffic in the area had been disrupted for several days due to a sinkhole in Niel.

The sinkhole had already been repaired, but test runs were needed before the service could safely resume.

These tests have now been completed successfully, and Infrabel has given the go-ahead for trains to operate as usual.

However, there will be a temporary speed limit of 40 km/hr for trains over a 300-metre stretch in Niel.

This restriction will have minimal impact on the overall train service, according to Infrabel.
