A new theme park featuring tulips, green and white façades, a mill, and Dutch cuisine will open in the Spring in the German town of Panketal, just outside Berlin, Belga News Agency reports.

“Holland Park” is the brainchild of Theo Roelofs, a 56-year-old Dutchman who has been living for close to three decades in Germany, where he already manages many theme gardens.

The 10-hectare park is a 20-year dream of his, Roelof says. In the Netherlands, “I visited an open-air museum close to Amsterdam with the family, with windmills and small houses painted in dark green and white edges,” he recalls. The idea remained with him ever since.

The park could welcome between 1,000 and 1,500 persons per day, and even more at the weekend. Its main building will include a market offering Dutch culinary fare. The complex will also have a garden centre, an outdoor playground and a climbing gym, all of which will surround a courtyard that will be called the “Binnenhof” (Dutch for “courtyard”).

Holland Park’s outdoor attractions include toboggans and a small farm meant for the youngest visitors. Tulips, the Dutch national emblem, will grow all around the park, which will employ about 140 persons.
