After 25 years of trundling sightseers through Antwerp, the popular tourist train will be grinding to a halt with the operator unable to find adequate vehicle parking.
Touristram, the tour operator, parked the trains and cars under the hangars on the Scheldt quays near the old cruise terminal. However, a project to rebuild and renovate the quays caused Touristram to lose the parking spot, Gazet van Antwerpen reports.
After months of searching, Touristram was unable to secure new parking and the Antwerp city council was unable to assist.

The tram includes a natural gas-powered lead engine that tows the carriages; all resembling historic trams. The tour winds through Antwerp’s downtown on a roughly 45-minute route. Audio guides are in Dutch, French, German, English, and Spanish.
The operator also rents its vehicles for special events, including school trips, senior centre excursions, and weddings.
