Around 15:00, a fire broke out on one of the tracks at Brussels-Schuman station due to a smouldering electricity cable, causing delays to train traffic in the Capital Region.
The fire brigade arrived quickly and only had to use a fire extinguisher to get the situation under control, Walter Derieuw of the Brussels fire service confirmed to The Brussels Times. "Only one firetruck was sent to the site, and it has already left," he said.
Currently, rail traffic is still halted on line 161A Brussels-Luxembourg to Brussels North and Brussels-Luxembourg to Zaventem airport. The SNCB technical department is on its way to the station to get everything ready again.
