From Saturday 19 March, filling up a tank with diesel and petrol will become much cheaper thanks to the Federal Government's measures, announced the Federal Public Service Economy.

The price reductions are a consequence of the reduction in excise duties, which is one of the measures introduced by the Government to reduce citizens' high energy bills. The price of heating oil, however, continues to increase.

As announced by Finance Minister Vincent Van Peteghem on Tuesday, the maximum price at the pump for petrol and diesel will drop by 17.5 cents per litre from this weekend, the website of the FPS Economy confirms.

In practice, this means that the maximum price for petrol 95 (E10) drops to €1.776/litre. For petrol 98 (E5), this will be €1.848/litre. For diesel (B7), the price will also fall, to a maximum of €1.904/litre.

The purchase of heating oil (50S), on the other hand, is becoming more expensive: for orders of more than 2,000 litres, the maximum price will increase by 13.04 cents, to €1.1562/litre. This price increase is a result of the quotations of the oil products on the international markets.
