BNP Paribas Fortis has decided to limit the maximum amount allowed in a regulated savings account to 250,000 euros from the 1st of April.

Until now, no limit had been set.

If an account exceeds the 250,000-euro ceiling, the surplus amount will be shifted to another deposit account already in the customer’s possession or one opened specifically for that purpose with the same management parametres as the account from which the surplus was transferred.

The new account will have a zero (0%) interest crediting rate.

According to the bank, over 99% of customers of BNP Paribas Fortis, Hellow bank! and Fitro are not concerned by this measure.
