Mypension.be provides more clarity on Belgium's new pension law

The Council of Ministers is making 34 million euros available for various digitization projects for the mypension.be application. Mypension.be is the online portal to follow one's pension file closely. It is one of the most widely used federal tools. Nearly 2.5 million people used it last year. The new projects, which are being carried out by the Federal Pension Service and the RIZIV/INAMI, will ensure, among other things, that foreign pensions are integrated on mypension.be. Mypension.be has launched efforts to provide more clarity about Belgium's new pension law, but information about exact pension amounts will only become available in the second half of 2027, according to the federal pension service.

The website, which allows users to consult their pension files online, paused the forecasting of pension dates and amounts due to the implementation of the new legislation.

The changes are significant, and adjustments are needed before updates can be fully integrated.

A new page titled “What does the reform mean for me?” has been introduced to help individuals track the impact of the changes on their own situations. Updates will roll out gradually as pension institutions obtain more data.

Starting this summer, the website will introduce a counter showing the days that contribute to bonuses or penalties based on current career information.

By autumn, the earliest pension date under the new rules will be available, and by the end of 2026, clarity is expected on the earliest pension date without penalties.

Information about exact pension amounts will follow in the second half of 2027, with simulation tools available by year-end.

The federal pension service reports a surge in inquiries about the reforms and is temporarily prioritising assistance for those retiring in 2026 or 2027.
