The organisers of football World Cup 2022 in Qatar registered 23.5 million requests for tickets during the second phase of ticket sales, which ended on Thursday.
This was announced on Friday by the international football federation, FIFA, Belga News Agency reports.
This phase of the sales, done by random selection, began after the holding of the World Cup Draw on 1 April.
The eight countries most in demand are England, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, France, Mexico and Qatar, FIFA said. Other than the final, the matches with the most orders are Argentina vs Mexico, Argentina vs Saudi Arabia, England vs the United States, and Poland vs Argentina.
During the first phase of the sales, organised from 19 January to 8 February, 804,186 tickets were attributed, whereas 17 million had been requested.
All told, just over 3 million tickets are available. Two million of these are on sale, while 1 million tickets are reserved for FIFA and its partners.
