Around 90 parking meters in the Brussels neighbourhood of Schaarbeek, plus a handful in nearby Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, were vandalised between 19 and 25 April.
Parking.brussels, which operates the system in Schaarbeek, has filed a formal complaint and a case has been opened with the public prosecutor, BX1 reports.
They suspect the culprit was a single individual who used a hammer to damage the machines.
Police in the area did not confirm the theory, stating that “the judicial investigation is still ongoing, based on an examination of the images.”
