The European Commission has cleared the creation of a joint venture between Turkey-based İGA Holding A.Ş. and Unifree Duty Free İşletmeciliği Anonim Şirketi under the EU Merger Regulation.
The deal mainly concerns the operation of travel retail stores outside the European Economic Area (EEA) — the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, the Commission informed on Thursday.
Case details
The Commission said it concluded the transaction would not raise competition concerns because of its limited impact on the EEA.
It added that the case was assessed using the simplified merger review procedure, which is used for transactions that are less likely to affect competition.
