New US intelligence reports suggest Vladimir Putin could, in the coming years, test NATO’s resolve with a limited attack on a member state, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The possible scenarios range from a cyberattack to a small-scale ground incursion. It remains unclear how likely US intelligence believes such an attack would be.

The warning comes as the United States faces shortages of some critical types of ammunition that would be needed in any conflict with Russia or China.

US stockpiles have been sharply reduced by weapons deliveries to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion, as well as by the confrontation between the United States and Iran.
