Families in the West Bank village of Qusra have been trapped inside their homes for more than a week because of settler violence, the EU informed in a statement.
The EU condemned what it described as a rise in violence by “extremist settlers”, including intimidation, harassment, destruction of property and physical harm against Palestinians, according to the statement from the European External Action Service (EEAS) released on Friday.
Such actions — described as attempts to drive Palestinians from their homes — must end immediately.
The EU repeated calls for Israel to take “decisive action” and ensure accountability for those responsible for crimes linked to settler violence.
It also said Israel has an obligation under international law to protect the Palestinian population in occupied territory.
EU criticises remarks by Israeli minister
The EU separately condemned recent statements and online videos by Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir about Gaza, the EEAS said.
It described the language as “egregious and inciteful”, and said it was “unacceptable” and should not be left unchecked.
The Israeli government has a responsibility to rein in such rhetoric, given Ben Gvir’s role as a minister.
