The Brussels Regional Government has allocated €43 million for extra safety and prevention measures, of which the police zones in the city will receive €35 million, Belga News Agency reports.
The money will be used to protect the public transport network, support the zones in their tasks related to the European summits and invest in security equipment.

€3 million of the budget will go to Brussels public transport company STIB-MIVD for network security.
Another €5 million has been awarded to the non-profit association Transit for the counselling and rehabilitation of addicts, part of which will go to the recently opened risk-reducing user space.
