The Antwerp Flying Group has ordered 50 VX4 aircraft, planes that take off vertically and do not require runways, from British aviation manufacturer Vertical.

“This is the future of flying,” commented Kristiaan Cloots of Flying Group, which is headquartered at Deurne airport and manages more than 45 private aircraft in Europe.

In aviation, as in other fields, people are gradually switching to electric devices that also make little noise.

The VX4 flies a maximum of 160 kilometers and is not suitable for long distances. It is ideal, for example, to take a DJ or a CEO from the airport to his or her final destination.

Flying Group’s Kristiaan Cloots explains that four passengers can fit in one aircraft.

“A real network will still need to be developed in terms of infrastructure,” he says. “We will need charging points for these types of devices everywhere in Europe.”

The first vertical planes should take off from Antwerp in 2025, but first they need to be manufactured.
