Wall Street opened higher on Tuesday, and this should consolidate the progress of the BEL 20 and its European neighbors, with Belgium's benchmark index finally regaining 1.05% at 3,790.11 points, with 17 of its major stocks in the green.
Galapagos (55.42) and Aperam (27.51) were in the lead with jumps of 3.36% and 3.23% respectively. Solvay (82.86) and UCB (85.04) were worth 2.17% and 0.35% more than the previous day, while arGEN-X (367.80) gained 0.99%.
KBC (50.00) and Ageas (41.83) went up by 1.61% and 0.87% respectively, AB InBev (54.78) and Colruyt (27.54) moved up by 0.62% and 0.44%, Aedifica (95.55) and Cofinimmo (106.60) rose by 2.03% and 2.21%, VGP (159.40) and WDP (30.44) by 2.31% and 1.06% while Elia, (147.10) and Sofina (205.60) were down by 0.34% and 0.39% along with Proximus (13.85), -0.11%.
Telenet (16.74) plunged by 12.5%, due largely to the prospect of a dividend cut. Barco (23.00) on the other hand jumped by 6.3% after results.
Deceuninck (2.35) rose by 3.5% while Ontex (6.44) and Inclusio (16.00) moved up by 11.7% and 7.4%. Bekaert (30.66) and Engie (11.51) regained 2.2% and 2.7% respectively.
Nyxoah (10.02) and Sequana Medical (6.20) shot up by 12.4% and 20.6% respectively, while Oxurion (0.38) and MDxHealth (0.69) lost 3.6% and 2.1 %.
Around 4:30 p.m., the euro stood at 1.0234 USD, against 1.0238 in the morning and 1.0182 the day before. The value of an ounce of gold went down by $US 4.05 to $US 1,710.85 while bullion traded at around 53,745 euros, down 400 euros.
