Wallonia's autumn vaccination campaign against Covid-19 will begin the week of September 5, regional Health Minister Christie Morreale announced on Friday.

This new campaign will particularly target immunocompromised people, those aged 65 and over, residents of residential facilities (nursing homes, disability, mental health), health professionals and 50 to 64-year-olds.

Pregnant women will also be invited, knowing that the risk of early delivery is proven in the event of an incomplete vaccination cycle, also explained the minister.

The rest of the population aged 18 and over can also still be vaccinated on a voluntary basis. In total, the fall vaccination campaign should last eight weeks.

Vaccination plan to last four weeks

The first groups of people who will receive their invitation at the end of August are the over-65s, the immunocompromised, care home staff and health sector workers.

This phase of the vaccination plan should last four weeks. Hospitals will be able to pay for the vaccination of their staff themselves.

Pregnant women will be able to make a priority appointment by calling the Walloon Agency for Quality Life (AViQ) on 071/31 34 93. It will then be the 50-64 year olds who will be invited to be vaccinated, then the rest of the population on a voluntary basis by making an appointment directly at one of the vaccination sites.

At the same time, the QVAX platform will be reactivated to allow those who wish to be contacted if time slots become available.
