Tesla will deliver its first electric trucks this year, the CEO of the U.S. manufacturing company, Elon Musk, said on Twitter.

The first such vehicles will be Tesla Semi Trucks with a driving range of more than 800 kilometres. Tesla is also offering a variant with a driving range of just over 480 km.

Musk gave no further details, such as the number of trucks to be delivered.

The Tesla CEO introduced the Semi Truck in 2017 and said the truck would go into production in 2019. Tesla eventually opted to devote its existing production capacity in recent years to making batteries for its passenger cars.

Meanwhile, the Tesla CEO once again confirmed that the Cybertruck pickup truck would go into production next year.
