The 40th edition of the International Baths Regatta, which took place Monday in Dinant, attracted around 15,000 spectators, according to one of the organisers, Jean-Olivier Meyfroidt.

The organisers were hoping for 40 bathtubs, kits and personal constructions combined. “There have been a host of requests for baths kits,” said Meyfroidt. By 11:00 a.m., it was full. Seven crews were lacking and could be replaced by 3:30 p.m,” he added.

Twenty-two bathtubs built from kits also took part in the regatta.

The non-compulsory theme of this 40th edition was “the great carnival of Dinant”. “There were 182 sailors. Some did a good job. But we can also understand that today, the materials are extremely expensive.” This year, the sailors had the possibility of parading on the Croisette de Dinant to return to the starting point.

“Not everyone participated but the crews liked it nonetheless. There were some very nice costumes,” Meyfroidt reported

The Regatta, which started at 4.30 p.m., took place without major incident.
