The life of the 19-year-old victim of a violent theft in Sint-Niklaas, East Flanders is still in danger, reports the East Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office.

One of the two suspects, an 18-year-old boy from Sint-Niklaas, will be brought before the investigating judge in Dendermonde on Sunday.

On the night of Friday and Saturday, near the Church of Sint-Niklaas, police were called to a violent robbery in which a man was beaten by two other people.

The victim was taken to hospital and his life is still in danger, the East Flanders Prosecutor’s Office said. The statements of a witness and camera images show that the victim, a 19-year-old boy from Sint-Niklaas, fell after a heavy blow, falling forward and possibly hitting his head against a bicycle shed.

The suspects then stole something from him, although what is not yet known.

Police later arrested a suspect. It concerns an 18-year-old young man from Sint-Niklaas. He will appear on Sunday before the investigating judge in Dendermonde, who will decide on the terms of his arrest.

The second suspect has not yet been caught.
