Flanders will again award €1,000 to every nursing student on a bachelor course who graduates this academic year, Flemish Minister of Welfare Hilde Crevits reported. This will be an expense allowance for the contract traineeship in the final year of training.
“We want to send a clear signal to graduate students: their care is invaluable. The corona crisis has made that clear more than ever. Moreover, given the current staff shortage, we have every interest in making the training as attractive as possible," said Minister Crevits.

It is not a new measure. Last academic year the same compensation was paid to 1,389 students. This year, 800 to 1,250 undergraduate students are expected to graduate. The payment of the compensation will be automatic to all nursing students who graduate from a Flemish nursing college this year.
