Wallonia’s regional transport company, TEC, will increase the number of express lines it provides from 28 to 33 by 2024, Walloon Minister for Mobility Philippe Henry announced on Tuesday.

Two new express lines were already added to the network in early September: the E23, linking Eupen, Büllingen, St-Vith and Burg-Reuland, and the E83, linking Gembloux and Charleroi.

To further encourage the region’s residents to use buses rather than cars, four new express lines will be offered in 2023: Auvelais-Créalys-Gembloux, Maubeuge-Mons, Bastogne-Luxembourg and Florenville-Luxembourg.

A line linking Herve to Liège is scheduled to follow in 2024.

At the same time, the main stations will be equipped with new information screens, TEC Spokesman Stéphane Thiery announced on Tuesday. These will display messages announcing the next departure on each platform, the state of the network, and other information for travellers.

The system will be supplemented with large-format displays showing upcoming departures on the various lines passing through the station and the number of the platform to which the traveller must go.

Finally, the planned system will include interactive touch terminals allowing travellers to consult a dynamic map with routes and nearby points of interest, to search for routes or to view the programme of local events.
